boulat

mostly reporters and journalists

One of iconic photos in our generation.....looking back 8 years ago ..it seems like yesterday ....on the last picture ...as seen on a documentary titled "Control Room"... to Iraqis...it had been like they been brought to the square... like actors.....was this an event of a fallen dictator or another reality TV....to the world....

if I'm not mistaken there was a flag covering his face....at one point...of the "event"

Photograph by Alexandra Boulat.

"While based in Ramallah Alex fell in love with the Palestinian film maker Issa Freij. Often Freij would collect her in his car on the Israeli side of the border after she had spent a day on the streets of Gaza.

But in June 2007 while working in the Palestinian territories Alex suffered a brain aneurism and she had to be taken by Palestinian ambulance to the border where she was transferred to an Israeli ambulance before being rushed to hospital in Jerusalem. It was to be her last border crossing.

Alex was flown to Paris as soon as her condition had stabilized, but she never regained consciousness and died on October 5th 2007.

At her funeral the Minister of Culture awarded her the Legion d’Honneur, France’s highest award." -photohistories
